Nick Knowles confirms BBC Strictly Come Dancing fate after being signed off by doctors

DIY SOS host Nick Knowles was signed off by doctors following a shoulder injury

Nick Knowles is set to grace the Strictly dance floor on Saturday night after receiving medical clearance. The 62 year old host of DIY SOS was in a state of uncertainty about his ability to perform with partner Luba Mushtuk this week, due to a shoulder injury.

However, insiders confirmed that he was given the go-ahead yesterday. Moreover, they disclosed that despite his injury - which necessitated him wearing a sling this week - he will even attempt a lift during his routine.

An insider shared: "Luba has told Nick that the move she was planning for the routine can be made safe for him - so as it stands they are still going to perform that. Nick is fully on board because the last thing he wants is the sympathy vote.

"Now that he's been told he can perform this week he is determined to come out all guns blazing and give the routine everything he's got. He and Luba are now rehearsing at Elstree to help them to make up the time they have lost this week," reports the Mirror.

Last week saw Nick - donning a sparkly high vis vest - perform a jive with partner Luba. His energetic performance earned him praise from the judges. However, his second performance was put at risk after he injured his shoulder while changing a tyre on his Range Rover.

The source explained: "Nick was really irritated to have injured himself so soon in the competition - especially doing something he could have avoided. It was a huge sigh of relief for him when the doctors said he could dance. Now it's a race against time to get the routine as good as it can be by Saturday."

On Saturday evening's extravaganza, Nick is set to perform an American smooth to the iconic tune Parklife by Blur. The DIY SOS host and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk are not comfortably placed on Strictly's leaderboard, having secured 18 points following their energetic jive to We Built This City by Starship, leaving them third from bottom.

Hot on their heels are Paul Merson and Pete Wicks, both snagging 17 points apiece, while Toyah Willcox languishes at the bottom with a mere 12 points. Sharing a bit of his background, Nick had previously talked about his early experiences with dancing, saying, "I grew up around it. I'm from a family of five kids on a council estate in Southall. "I used to join in a bit, but my dad was old-fashioned and when I got to six or seven he was like, 'That's enough of that. You're playing rugby now.'".
