All the parts of UK facing 10cm snow per hour as weather maps 'turn white'

Weather maps have turned white as a huge snow blast hits - stretching as far south as Devon. Forecasts from WX Charts, which use Met Desk data to project the latest weather, show flurries everywhere including Devon and Cornwall.

WXCharts' maps suggest that areas around Aberdeen in Scotland could see as much as 10cm per hour of snow on the day - but everywhere from Wick on Scotland's North coast down to Edinburgh should also brace for snowfall as we head towards November.

November 8 has been earmarked as the date where the worst flurries are likely to fall. In England, Exmoor National Park, Devon, and even as far south as Plymouth, on the border with Cornwall, are likely to be hit, according to reports, as south of the border shivers too.

The November 7 to November 21 forecast explains: "A change in the broad weather pattern over the UK is expected towards mid-November and beyond, as high pressure initially over the nearby continent tends to become more focussed to the north or northwest of the UK.

"This may allow areas of low pressure, south-shifted from their more typical tracks, to approach southern UK and bring rain or showers at times. As a result, after a relatively dry start to the month in the south and east it is likely to become wetter than average here, while conversely northwestern areas, after a wetter start to the month, will tend to revert to drier than average conditions.

"Temperatures will probably be close to average for much of this period as a whole, although some colder interludes are possible." The Beeb added: "Friday’s outlook may provide a little more clarity regarding the patterns that will prevail at from the beginning of November.

"At present, the long-range weather prediction models are still showing conflicting trends."
