BBC Strictly Come Dancing star set to leave show for good after being 'thrust into spotlight'

Wynne Evans has been tipped to be the sixth contestant eliminated from this year’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing, according to betideas.com. The Welsh winger is 9/4 to depart the series this Sunday, as he returns to the BBC dancefloor.

The odds show bookies placing him only a shade higher in the betting than outright favourite to be next eliminated, Shayne Ward (7/4). Sam Quek was touted as one of the pre-series favourites but lies third in the elimination market at 4/1, with JB Gill also in the running at 6/1.

Lee Astley, spokesperson for betideas.com, said: “Wynne Evans has certainly been in the Strictly spotlight for the past couple of weeks but we reckon this weekend’s show could be the Welsh singer’s last dance in the series.

“Evans is 9/4 to be the next contestant to leave the programme, putting him only narrowly behind Shayne Ward in the betting.” The singer and his dance partner Katya Jones were in the spotlight after a seemingly awkward on-air interaction, which they later clarified as an inside joke.

The pair are now focusing on their next challenge: a Rumba to Dame Shirley Bassey's 'This is My Life' for the show's Icons week. On 'It Takes Two', Wynne said: "Rumba I'm enjoying but I don't know if I'm doing it right. I've got concerns about the hips. The hips, the hips, the hips."

Katya said: "The hips are getting looser. Wynne's got beautifully shaped long legs so if we can put the legs with the hips, it'll be perfection. Can we get there by Saturday, who knows?" Wynne also discussed his nerves in an Instagram Q&A.

The Welsh crooner, who is the face of the GoCompare adverts, said: "I don't know. I don't look at what's coming up. I just have to focus on getting through this week. I'm now the oldest and the fattest, so the fact I've made it this far is incredible."

"Just focus on this week and getting through this week and then we'll see if I'm there next week. There's a lot of hips in the rumba, I may have actually discovered where my hips are," he added.
