First Dragon Age The Veilguard patch will fix the RPG’s most annoying problem
BioWare has teased the first Dragon Age The Veilguard patch, and it's designed to fix the RPG's accidental companion skill problem.
by Will Nelson · PCGamesNIt’s been a long road, but Dragon Age The Veilguard is finally here. As you catch up to Solas after ten years of waiting, unintended bugs and glitches are the last thing you want to find. The good news is that The Veilguard runs pretty smoothly, especially for such a big game. The even better news is that BioWare’s first patch for the RPG is almost here. If you’ve come across one of the game’s most annoying problems with companions, worry no longer, because it’s about to be fixed.
While the newest game in the series is doing very well, Dragon Age The Veilguard has nevertheless split opinion. The RPG’s combat, linear gameplay, and lack of depth in dialogue choices compared to older games like Origins or Inquisition are particular sore points. That’s not to say BioWare’s fantasy series hasn’t grown, but it does show us that The Veilguard’s reception is somewhat mixed.
Hopefully, that reception will change soon, as BioWare is about to drop the game’s first major patch. We even get a little sneak peek of what to expect, and one of the game’s most annoying problems is about to go away.
“We have our first patch for Dragon Age: The Veilguard coming later this week to all platforms,” BioWare explains. “This patch will include some bug fixes, minor balance changes, and some crash mitigations.” While we’ll have to wait for the full patch notes, BioWare does give us a teaser of what to expect.
If you’ve been going to your Dragon Age The Veilguard companions only to find that their skill points have reset, worry no longer. BioWare says this issue should now be fixed, saving you from reallocating everyone’s skills on a whim.
Also, if you’ve been wanting to use Nvidia’s AI upscaling for better resolution in Dragon Age The Veilguard but found that it doesn’t work properly, BioWare is fixing that up. The team says it has “fixed an issue where DLSS options could end up ‘grayed-out’ on a 40-series Nvidia GPU.” So if you’ve got one of the best graphics cards and previously couldn’t use one of its premier features, that should change soon.
Lastly, some player characters had a problem where their customizations were not being applied directly during one of the ending scenes. Now, however, that’s also been remedied – if you’ve already finished the game and found your character looked a little different right at the end, that shouldn’t happen again after the patch.
