Sony announced its mid-cycle refresh back in September. The company was light on details, although we were told at the time that the updated console delivers a 45 percent boost in graphics rendering power thanks to 67 percent more compute units and memory that is 28 percent faster.

The PlayStation 5 Pro's $699 price tag came as a shock to some, especially considering Sony didn't lower the cost of the original in light of the updated version. Indeed, a standard PS5 will still set you back $499 – the same price it launched at back in 2020.
