Former Welsh X Factor star reacts to Liam Payne's death

He paid tribute to the star earlier this morning and shared that he 'can't imagine how his family must be feeling'

The former Welsh X factor contestant Lloyd Macey has described Liam Payne as “lovely and had time for everyone” earlier today, on October 17.

Liam Payne crossed paths with Lloyd during his time on the talent show on series 14 when he met him in 2017. Lloyd Macey, from Ynyshir in the Rhondda, series 14 of The X Factor in the Boys category mentored by Louis Walsh and paid tribute to the former One Direction member on Radio Wales this morning.

Lloyd said: “I’m the same age as Liam, 31, and I can’t imagine how his family must be feeling. He’s left his son behind as well. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.

“I met Liam on the live shows when I was on X Factor myself and he was lovely, he had time for everyone, very supportive. Obviously he’d been watching the show and knew about us and the kind of music we were singing and you don’t forget things like that.”

Due to the eliminations of Spencer Sutherland, wildcard Leon Mallett and Sam Black, he was last act remaining in his category. He was eliminated in the semi final, finishing in 4th place.

Liam, on the other hand appeared in 2008 when he appeared on series seven of the hit ITV show, with the winner for that year being Matt Cardle. The panel of judges for that year included Louis Walsh, Dannii Minoue, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell.

Harry Styles' mum has also posted a heart-breaking tribute following the death of former One Direction singer Liam Payne in Argentina. Anne Twist posted a picture a broken-hearted emoji against a black background on Instagram, captioning it: "Just a boy."
