Chris McCausland has opened up about the challenges he's facing on Strictly Come Dancing, describing how it's "going to be difficult" as he progresses in the BBC One dance competition.

The stand-up comedian is partnered with professional dancer Dianne Buswell. The pair successfully danced their way into week four of Strictly's landmark 20th series last weekend, delivering a lively jive to the Wayne World's theme for the programme's Movie Week special.

Despite their energetic performance earning them their highest score yet, a commendable 30 out of 40 from the judges, Chris has confessed to experiencing a "wobble".

In his latest entry for The Telegraph's Strictly diary column, he revealed: "Such is the pressure we place on ourselves for the Saturday show that I had a bit of a wobble and ended up convincing myself that I was destined for doom on national television and that I would be taking poor Dianne down with me."

He also highlighted the rejuvenating effects of rest, saying: "I will never again underestimate the power of a good night's sleep though, as a solid 10 hours that Friday night left me feeling like a new man by Saturday morning.", reports the Manchester Evening News.

Additionally, Chris expressed astonishment at receiving a seven from judge Craig Revel Horwood, with whom he shares a playful rivalry. He reflected: "After my wobble on the Friday, to say I feel like I got away with it is an understatement. Last week was our highest score so far and we even got a , which is like a 12 from anybody else."

"We are improving, but so are my fellow contestants and so it's going to be difficult to remain in this competition for long. I will give it my all though, because I'm actually really enjoying this dancing lark but don't tell anybody that, I've got a reputation to uphold."

Chris and Dianne have been diligently preparing for their upcoming live performance in the iconic ballroom, where they'll be performing a Salsa to Men At Work's 'Down Under' in the next live show on Saturday night (October 12).

The 47 year old, who has made history as Strictly's first blind contestant, admitted: "We've been practising hard, and I've only dropped her seven times. So far anyway.."
