The heartbroken family of a motorcyclist who tragically died following a crash in Flintshire have paid tribute to him. Simon Paul Williams, 33, was riding on the A541 on September 10 when he collided with a car near the junction with the B5123 at Rhydymwyn, close to Mold.

Mr Williams, a mobile plant operator from Fourth Avenue, Flint, was airlifted to Aintree Hospital but sadly passed away two days later, according to the opening of his inquest. During the brief hearing in Ruthin, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, stated that no post-mortem examination was necessary as hospital doctors had identified the cause of death as a traumatic brain injury.

The family has since released a statement which read: "Simon Paul Williams Aged 33: Leaves behind his mother, two brothers and sister in law and extended family. Passed away surrounded by family and friends at Aintree hospital. Thursday 12th September.", reports North Wales Live.

North Wales Police have appealed for witnesses to the collision which is being investigated by the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit. The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
