Strictly pro Katya Jones and her celebrity dance partner Wynne Evans have spoken out to their followers after a clip from the previous evening's show went viral, showing what appeared to be an uncomfortable moment between the pair.

The footage captured Wynne seemingly trying to place his hand on Katya's waist, which she appeared to brush away, before he attempted it once more.

In response to the viewers' concerns, they released a video where Katya said: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke." Wynne chimed in with: "Yes sorry."

Wynne also posted a message alongside the video, stating: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones.", reports the Mirror.

Fans noticed the moment

Despite the apologies, fans seemed more focused on Wynne's attempt to touch Katya's waist rather than their explanation or the high-five inside joke.

Viewers have taken very different stances on a controversial moment during the recent show. One expressed concern, posting: "Sorry guys how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya's stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable? ? How is that a 'joke'?"

Another was equally perturbed, asking, "And the hand sliding across the waist? Was that a joke too?" Discomfort was echoed by another viewer who implored, "Please leave Strictly Come Dancing... you're making your partner uncomfortable, not cool! ! " A further comment read, "Well mate your body language and eye flicker tell another story. Used to being handsy with women clearly."

The sentiment of inappropriateness was bolstered by another remark: "Yuck, watching his misappropriate touching your waist and stomach when it wasn't wanted is giving me creep vibes. And I am very rarely wrong. Just yuck."

In contrast, there are fans who viewed the situation as benign and offered supportive messages. One admirer commented: "Didn't see it but you two have a great relationship. Love your dance tonight!" Echoing this support, someone else noted: "You haven't done anything wrong, neither has Katya. This is just normal human interaction amongst two people , with jobless people reading and interpreting salacious nonsense into hand gestures. Keep dancing and have fun."

Tellingly, another supporter articulated their dismay, stating: "Honestly devastated that you both feel you have to apologise. Neither of you have done anything wrong at all. My absolute favourites from week one and your dance tonight was fantastic."

During the event, the duo scored 34 for their Tango performance to Abba's hit track "Money Money Money," with judges Anton Du Beck and Craig Revel Horwood awarding them 8 points each, whereas Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse were more generous, bestowing nines. Anton appreciated the routine as 'tremendous', and Craig was noticeably impressed, stating: "loved it", and further proclaimed: "Winner, winner, winner."
