A taxi crashed into a group of people in the heart of Glasgow city centre. There was a large emergency services presence on Saturday, October 5 just before 2pm, including police and the fire service.

It happened at the city's Union Street, where witnesses said a black cab collided with pedestrians. Three people were taken to hospital and fourth with minor injuries made their own way there.

An eyewitness told the Daily Record: "The emergency services arrived on Union Street quickly and erected screens around the area and the black cab."

Another witness said: "I just walked by a major incident outside Glasgow Central Station. Huge emergency services response. It looks like a taxi mounted the pavement right outside the Tesco Express.", reports Glasgow Live.

There were multiple police cars, an ambulance, incident response units, and fire brigade vehicles in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.50pm, we attended a report of a crash involving a taxi and three pedestrians on Union Street, at the junction with Gordon Street, in Glasgow City Centre. Three people were taken by ambulance to hospital and one person made their way from the scene."

Road closures are currently in effect on Union Street, Renfield Street, and St Vincent Street, while Gordon Street is accessible only to pedestrians. Authorities are advising drivers and the general public to steer clear of the area as investigations are ongoing.

According to a spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesperson stated: "We received a call at 1.55pm to assist partners at Union Street in Glasgow. Operations control mobilised two appliances and a specialist resource to the scene. We have now left the incident."
