Strictly Come Dancing's Movie Week special had everyone on the edge of their seats, but the results show on Sunday night left the audience rather perplexed.

Minutes after the beginning of the results episode, viewers were scratching their heads and immediately took to Twitter, now X, to voice their dissatisfaction with a noticeable change in the show's format particularly the absence of the iconic opening group performance by the professional dancers that traditionally kicks off the evening.

A viewer expressed confusion: "They're opening with the results first? ? don't they nearly go straight into a pro dance? ? ? #Strictly." Meanwhile, another fan lamented: "WHY DO THEY KEEP CHANGING THE FORMAT #scd."

Similarly, a third commented: "I know they're only small changes but I hate this new format #strictly," reports the Mirror.

One person questioned: "Why have we stopped starting with a group number i'm so confused #strictly" and another added: "I don't like this new format of not opening with the group dance. Looking forward to the rom com dance #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing." One particular fan missed the usual spectacle, saying: "The Sunday opening dance is always the best. Where is it? #Strictly."

It comes in the wake of Saturday's themed episode where viewers saw the professional dancers take on an imaginative tribute to the Despicable Me franchise, complete with Kai Widdrington embodying Gru, the series' iconic anti-villain, while his colleagues slipped into yellow bodysuits to expertly channel the mischievous Minions.

Meanwhile, the celebrities and their dance partners dazzled with movie-inspired routines complete with stunning costumes. However, Sunday will sadly see the second celebrity exit the show.

Before the weekend, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were scheduled to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2 before Nick had to withdraw on Friday due to an injury.

This follows last weekend's departure of Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, who were the first pair to leave the competition.
