Strictly's Amy Dowden gives health update on It Takes Two following collapse horror
by Jasmine Allday · Wales OnlineAmy Dowden has shared an update on her wellbeing during her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.
After Amy Dowden stepped aside due to her health concerns, JLS star JB Gill has been assigned professional Lauren Oakley as his dance partner for the current week.
Amy, back in the Strictly spotlight following her previous cancer battles, took ill just after last weekend's live show. Emergency medical technicians were called to assist when she fell ill, leading to her being transported to hospital for further evaluation.
A statement from her spokesperson relayed: "Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy's privacy in matters of health is kindly respected."
Making a reassuring appearance on It Takes Two tonight, Amy joined Lauren and JB, expressing her gratitude towards the Strictly team: "I'm feeling so much better, I just want to say thank you to my lovely Strictly family."
Amy also divulged that the trio shares a group chat, where they've been exchanging pictures and video messages all week. She added: "Not only does he have a new partner, he has a new style as well! I'm so grateful to Lauren and JB has been so supportive of me. The both of them have been messaging me all week."
Despite earlier expectations of her timely return, it has since been confirmed that Amy will continue to take time off and be replaced for this week's performances.
"Amy Dowden MBE is doing much better and the Strictly family send her love and wish her well. She is delighted that fellow professional dancer, Lauren Oakley, is able to step in for rehearsals and to perform in Saturday's show for JB Gill's couple's choice dance. We are all hopeful that Amy will be back to dance with JB next week," the show announced in a statement.
After the incident, JB expressed his gratitude on social media for the support they received.
Posting on his Instagram page, he expressed: "On behalf of both Amy Dowden and I, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for voting for us and wishing us well. We absolutely loved our performance on Saturday night and are so grateful to be through to another week on Strictly. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support."
