Jeremy Clarkson has disclosed that he underwent a heart procedure following a "sudden deterioration" in his health. The 64 year old, known for his work on Top Gear and now the face of Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video, shared his experience in The Sunday Times, discussing the "wearisome effects of growing old".

He said that after a swim in the Indian Ocean, he struggled with stairs and upon returning home, noticed his condition rapidly worsening. Describing symptoms such as being "clammy", feeling a "tightness in my chest", and experiencing "pins and needles in my left arm", Clarkson was prompted to seek medical advice after hearing about Alex Salmond’s fatal heart attack.

After an ambulance trip to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where a heart attack was ruled out through an ECG, blood tests, and X-rays, further examinations led him to an "operating theatre". Doctors informed him he was potentially "days away" from becoming severely ill.

Clarkson revealed that one of his heart's arteries was completely blocked, and another was on its way to being blocked. A life-saving stent was fitted within approximately two hours to improve blood flow to his heart.

The motoring journalist said: "It wasn’t especially painful. Just odd," he mused over his recent health incident, adding, "Crikey, that was close."

Post-episode, Clarkson shared reflections on dietary changes, quipping that he was "wondering what water tastes like and if it’s possible to make celery interesting" as he contemplated reducing his meat consumption. His health journey previously included quitting smoking following a pneumonia bout during a Spanish holiday.

Off the back of stepping away from The Grand Tour on Prime Video with co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May last month, Clarkson has been busy with his hit series Clarkson’s Farm, airing on Prime Video, and hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

on ITV. Moreover, the TV personality has ventured into the hospitality industry, having recently inaugurated his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, located in Asthall, near Burford, not far from his Chipping Norton residence.
