Thomas Tuchel has been officially confirmed as the new England boss, becoming just the third foreign coach to take up the role.

The German manager's CV is certainly impressive, having already taken charge of some of the world's biggest teams and triumphed in the most prestigious club competitions. Tuchel was most recently boss of Bayern Munich, but has also managed the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea over the course of his coaching career.

He is probably best known by most England fans for his time at Stamford Bridge, where he won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in 2021. He has also secured league titles in France and Germany, alongside several other domestic cups and a host of individual awards.

But while his achievements in the dugout speak for themselves, a lot less is known about Tuchel away from football. Here's everything you need to know about his colourful personal life and the huge salary he is set to receive when he becomes the new Three Lions boss next year.

Net worth and huge England salary

In 2023, Tuchel was estimated to have a net worth of around £15 million.

However, this will have likely increased due to his lucrative contract with Bayern Munich, which was worth a huge £7.5 million a year.

While at Chelsea, the German coach was reported to be earning a staggering £10 million annually, while he was also given a whopping £13 million by the Blues when he was dismissed from his role in September 2022.

Having taken the England job, Tuchel will actually be taking a pay cut from his time at either Chelsea or Bayern as he will now earn £5 million a year. This is the same amount that Gareth Southgate earnt since 2021, having started the job on £1.8 million a year back in 2016.

Public divorce

Tuchel was married to his ex-wife Sissi, a journalist, for 13 years, tying the knot in 2009 before divorcing in 2022.

The split came just months after Sissi had moved to Surrey with the couple's two children, Emma and Kim, in order to be close to the manager during his second season at Chelsea.

At the time, Tuchel remarked: "It was a long summer, but it did not feel so long because I was in Paris to help my family move the house and finish school for the kids over there.

"My wife took care of [the house move] so I did not get in the way too much. Now it is good that they have joined me and that they are close to me, this is how it should be. It is also nice to be back now. It is a good feeling."

However, the following April, the relationship was over with the couple said to have "exhausted all avenues" with no hope of a reconciliation.

The split soon made headlines in Germany and across the world, with the Independent reporting that the news had become talk of the Chelsea dressing room. It was also claimed that the news changed the players' perception of Tuchel, who was sacked from his role at Stamford Bridge months later.

"Sissi and Thomas have tried to avoid splitting, but in the end, there was no other way," a source told the Mail on Sunday at the time. "It is very sad and now it is all about making sure their daughters are the top priority. Papers were lodged last week to get the divorce underway."

Much younger girlfriend

However, soon after his divorce was made public, Tuchel moved on with Natalie Max, a Brazilian mother-of-two who is reportedly 13 years younger than the now 51-year-old coach.

The pair struck up a romance and that summer were seen enjoying each other's company in Sardinia, where they reportedly stayed in a luxurious villa priced at £20,000 per night. Friends of Tuchel told the Sun that the couple appeared "holding hands at every opportunity" and were "very much in love."

It is believed that Tuchel and Max have been in a relationship since May 2022, just a month after his marriage ended.

They have been reportedly living together in Munich since the manager left Bayern at the end of last season. However, Tuchel is set to move back to the UK as he embarks on his new journey as England manager on January 1 next year.
