ITV's The Voice slapped with complaints as fans fume over format change to final

by · Wales Online

The Voice UK final triggered controversy among viewers on Saturday night (October 26), as many pointed out issues with the show's format.

The much-anticipated finale saw performances from contenders Deb Orah, Storry, Ava, Billy, and Louie, all competing for the prestigious title and a handsome cash reward.

Back again to support their favourites were The Voice coaches Sir Tom Jones, Will. i.am, and LeAnn Rimes, joined by McFly's Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, all eager to see their proteges triumph.

Ultimately, it was team McFly's Ava who won over the judges and live audience, securing her victory in The Voice UK 2024 and bagging a deal with Universal, a £50,000 prize, and a holiday to Universal Resort in Orlando, reports the Mirror.

Ava takes her place among renowned winners like Leanne Mitchell, Molly Hocking, and Kevin Simm. Yet, the elimination of the public vote from the final, leaving the decision solely to those in the studio, left fans at home less than impressed.

Dismayed spectators voiced their opinions on X, previously known as Twitter, concerning the revised voting process. One disgruntled viewer exclaimed: "Despite it being a s*** format with no public vote, the right person won! Well done, Ava #TheVoiceUK."

Another expressed frustration, tweeting: "@hlt_ja, Well, I'd have voted for Ava, but unfortunately, the viewing public can't vote for the winner, so that's that then #TheVoiceUK."

One viewer expressed: "I think the Public should vote on #TheVoiceUK, not the audience."

Another chimed in with: "@ITV, please can we have the live finals back, giving the public the vote @thevoiceuk #thevoiceuk."

However, some viewers were delighted that Ava emerged as the winner. A fan commented: "Finally fixed for the right person to win #TheVoiceUK."

Another shared their joy: "I'm so happy that Ava won @thevoiceuk bless her and congratulations.

And another added: "@TomFletcher and Danny for their first ever win as coaches! Maybe I'll be on your team next year, haha #TheVoiceUK." (sic)

Becky Hill is arguably The Voice UK's most successful contestant. The 30-year-old was part of Jessie J's team and made it to the semi-finals.

Since then, she has collaborated with some of the world's top DJs, including David Guetta, MK, Oliver Heldens, Joel Corry, and Wilkinson.

The Voice is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
