Hairy Bikers Si King 'pushing on' as he opens up on Dave Myers' death in heartfelt moment on The One Show

Hairy Bikers Si King admitted that late Dave Myers would want him to keep ‘pushing on’ as he revealed that he is looking after the legacy they built together.

Co-star best mate Dave tragically passed away aged 66 in February following a battle with cancer, after being diagnosed in 2022.

Now, eight months on, chef and cookbook author Si, 57, has opened up on his grief. The star appeared on Tuesday’s episode of BBC The One Show to promote his new book, which is his final project with Dave.

Speaking to hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott, Si went on to confirm: “I’m coping ok thank you.” The star became visibly emotional as he continued: “It’s a big loss and a big adjustment but I know Dave would have wanted me to keep pushing up so that’s exactly what I will do.

“I want to look after the legacy we have built because it deserves the respect Dave and myself put into it so I’ll continue to look after it.”

Touching on the special moment motorcyclists took part in a memorial ride in honour of the late Hairy Bikers star Dave earlier this year, Si went on to say: “I’ve never short for words but I still can’t put it into words because it was just so unbelievable.”

He continued: “46,000 motorcycles and 150,000 people lined up to pay tribute to my friend. It was lovely that the motorcycle community came together and it was wonderful. It was an amazing energy to be a part of and it was quite remarkable.”

Elsewhere in the show, Si opened up about the heartfelt story behind the new cookbook and why it means so much to him.

Alex Jones turned to Si and asked: “Of course this book is all about recipes that have come down from one generation to the next, but this book is particularly special isn’t it?”

Dave responded: “The book is special because it is the book me and Dave started together before he passed so as his best mate I really wanted to finish it in his honour really so that’s what this book is about.

He added: “It’s all of those recipes that stuck with us throughout the years. It’s full of heritage and full of stories and heart. That’s the lovely thing about food.”
