Status Orange rain warning issued for two counties

A Status Orange rain warning has been issued for counties Cork and Waterford, with Met Éireann warning that heavy rain will lead to dangerous driving conditions.

The warning comes into effect from midday on Sunday for 12 hours.

Poor visibility has been forecast, while some flooding is expected.

Several other counties across the south and southeast are also subject to a Status Yellow rain warning for the entirety of Sunday.

The warning is in place for counties Kerry, Carlow, Wexford, Kilkenny and Wicklow, as well as Cork and Waterford.

Met Éireann has warned of persistent rain which will be heavy at times, as well as localised flooding leading to difficult travelling conditions.
