Things have moved quickly on Tuesday, with the Football Association acting fast to secure their first-choice target to succeed Gareth Southgate. Lee Carsley has overseen four matches as interim boss, picking up three wins, but the former under-21s manager will not get the job on a permanent basis.
The FA has been on the lookout for a new manager since Southgate stepped down in the wake of the defeat by Spain in the final of Euro 2024. Tuchel has been out of work since leaving Bayern in the summer and will become the third foreign boss of the Three Lions, after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

Thomas Tuchel has agreed to become the next England manager after flying in to London for talks with the Football Association.
He was identified as an option in the summer as soon as Gareth Southgate stepped down and is available to join straight away, having not taken another job since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season.
And the 51-year-old German could well be officially announced tomorrow at a press conference.
