Good Morning Britain viewers had a blast from the past on Thursday as former host Ben Shephard returned to the ITV studio for a very special reason

Good Morning Britain fans were left delighted on Thursday as former host Ben Shephard returned to the ITV studio.

During the latest instalment, presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley welcomed Pride Of Britain winner, Jacob Newson, who has raised more than £160,000 in honour of his mum.

After learning that This Morning star Ben, 49, was one of his heroes and he was hoping to meet him, the GMB team had a sweet surprise for the youngster.

It wasn't long until Ben entered the studio to surprise Jacob, where he also revealed he had a special message from his favourite football team which left the youngster in tears.

Commenting on Ben's return to Good Morning Britain, Susanna said: "Lovely to see you back!" to which Ben admitted: "Gosh, it's funny being back!" Never missing a joke, fellow presenter Richard joked: "Fancy taking over Ben?"

Viewers were also left in tears as they took to Twitter, now X, to share their thoughts. One person said: "#GMB What an amazing inspiring young man. I cannot stop crying #prideofbritain @GMB", a different account wrote: "Oh god, I’m crying at 7.45am, his reaction to being a mascot at Leeds #GMB" while another show watcher added: "It's a while since @benshephard has made me cry on @GMB #GMB #Jacob #PrideofBritainAwards."
