Cheryl Tweedy's family and friends have rallied around the singer to support her after she released an emotional statement on Liam Payne's death and what it means for their seven-year-old son Bear.

The 41-year-old was left heartbroken after the former One Direction star died while on holiday in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday. Liam fell from the balcony of his third-floor room at Casa Sur Palermo hotel and was tragically pronounced dead after suffering serious injuries.

Cheryl described Liam's death as an "earth shattering event" and said she was working through her own grief "at this indescribably painful time" after her son was left without his dad. Since Liam's death, the former X Factor judge has been supported by her close family and friends, including her mum who has been by her side.

People have been visiting the home and flowers have been delivered to Cheryl, who has not left her Buckinghamshire house since the tragedy.

A source told The Sun: “She’s got her mum with her a lot, and especially now she’s there. There’s been people visiting, flowers have been delivered. But [Cheryl] has not come out [of her home].”

. It is believed Cheryl last saw Liam at the beginning of September, when he visited Bear.

During their final meeting, the former 1D star seemed "happy and healthy", according to the source, who added: "He was very involved. Sometimes he's done with the school run as well. He seemed really lovely and caring with his son."

After Liam's death, Cheryl released a statement saying: "As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being. Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again."

The chart-topping singer went on to add: "What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days. It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in his future.

"I am begging you to consider what use some of these reports are serving, other than to cause further harm to everyone left behind picking up the pieces. Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them. Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last. Thank you, Cheryl."

After his dad's tragic death, Bear stands to inherit his fortune, estimated to be £46million. According to some of Liam's friends, the 1D star had made arrangements "some years ago" to ensure his money would go to his only child in the event of his death.

Despite being often thousands of miles apart as the singer spent a lot of time in America, he kept in touch with bear via video calls on FaceTime. An insider told The Daily Mail: "Liam had some very sensible people around him for a time and he adored Bear so much. He always wanted to do the right thing by him financially. It is a small consolation that Bear will never want for anything, that he will at least benefit from that."
