George Clooney slammed for demanding Joe Biden quit as election blame game takes bizarre turn
Lifelong Democrat George Clooney came under fire for demanding Joe Biden to leave the White House as Donald Trump gears up for another four years in the Oval Office
by Laura Carreno · The MirrorDonald Trump's electoral win against Kamala Harris has caused an intense backlash as Democrats have pointed the finger at George Clooney.
In the wake of the US presidential election results, the Ocean's Eleven star has been blamed for his influence on the Democratic campaign, after the actor urged current president Joe Biden to stand down in favour of another candidate to represent the party.
Back in July, George Clooney penned an op-ed encouraging the former Vice President and former Delaware senator, 81, to give up on the election as he insisted the Democratic party had no chance of winning if Biden remained in the run.
This ultimately led to Joe Biden's own Vice President Kamala Harris to take the reigns, facing and losing to Donald Trump this Wednesday, November 6 - and devastated Democrat supporters are now blaming the 63-year-old star for the loss.
One angry X user took to the social media platform as they wrote: "Trump should not forget to thank the Hollywood celebrities. Especially George Clooney." A Trump supporter echoed: "'It's just occurred to me, we have failed to acknowledge George Clooney's roll in this victory!"
Another continued: "I blame George Clooney he said no more money... and now look...", just as a fourth chimed in: "Since I'm in a deep depression and feel like lashing out at someone, what's the plan now George Clooney?", while another added: "'It's all George Clooney's fault!"
Back in July, 2024, Joe Biden announced he was quitting the presidential race and vowed to "finish the job for the American people." The president is due to finish his term in January, 2025, as the Electoral College is due to meet in order to select the new president and vice president. However, the former Apprentice star may have another hurdle to face before he can get the keys to the White House.
Over on social media, some Kamala Harris supporters have grown increasingly convinced that Donald Trump will never make the move from his headquarters in Mar-A-Lago to Washington as he is due in court on November 26, 2024.
The president-elect was found guilty on 34 counts in his hush money trial in Manhattan after he was accused of covering up his then lawyer's $130k (£99k) payment to Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence about their sexual encounter. Though he denied the encounter and vowed to appeal the verdict, he was due to be sentenced in September, the court date was pushed back to a later date, allowing Donald Trump to run for president.
US law states that falsifying court documents is punishable by up to five years in prison, though other punishments like probation and fines are more common. To top it all off, Donald Trump was declared legally liable for sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll.
