Oasis U-turn on ticket pricing for North American customers as they announce more dates

Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher will reunite the seminal Britpop band next year for a string of dates across the UK and Ireland, plus a newly announced world tour

Oasis have decided against using dynamic pricing for their US dates, after drawing widespread criticism during the sale of their UK and Ireland gigs.

When demand rose for tickets, some hopeful buyers had waited hours in a virtual queue to only be offered the choice of general admission tickets costing upwards of £300 each. To make sure this situation doesn't happen again, Oasis' management have released a statement to confirm they will not be using the pricing model for US customers, like they did for UK and Irish fans.

The meandering statement reads: "Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model will not be applied to the forthcoming sale of tickets to Oasis concerts in North America. It is widely accepted that dynamic pricing remains a useful tool to combat ticket touting and keep prices for a significant proportion of fans lower than the market rate and thus more affordable. But when unprecedented ticket demand (where the entire tour could be sold many times over at the moment tickets go on sale) is combined with technology that cannot cope with that demand, it becomes less effective and can lead to an unacceptable experience for fans. We have made this decision for the North America tour to hopefully avoid a repeat of the issues fans in the UK and Ireland experienced recently."

Liam and Noel Gallagher have decided to reunite the band next year, after more than a decade of pleas from fans. The band have finally confirmed they are heading to North America on tour next year - their first dates there for 16 years.

They had previously teased further gigs for their world tour and have now announced shows including Canada in August and Mexico in September.

In a statement Noel and Liam Gallagher - who famously refused to buy into the pressure to 'break' America - said: "America. Oasis is coming. You have one last chance to prove that you loved us all along."

The first US date will be in Chicago on August 28 before they head to East Rutherford in New Jersey for August 31. The band also released a separate statement in Spanish for their gig in Mexico, the statement translates as: "People of Mexico, prepare yourselves. The Brothers are on the way."

The North American leg, promoted by Live Nation and SJM, will see Oasis play stadiums in Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Los Angeles and Mexico City next summer with Cage The Elephant as the special guest across all dates.

Liam and Noel posed in a new photo together when the full details of their first shows in 16 years were announced on August 27 - sparking mayhem amongst fans. In a joint statement on behalf of Oasis, the brothers said: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

In a video to promote the comeback, Liam is also heard saying: "When we both come together, you have greatness." Noel says: "I know my brother better than anybody else. This is it, this is happening."
