David Beckham's multi-millionaire net worth could be eclipsed by Luke Littler

David Beckham's years at the top of club football and various business ventures have seen his net worth soar, but darts prodigy Luke Littler has been backed to overtake him

by · The Mirror

Luke Littler has been backed to topple David Beckham's net worth as the darting prodigy continues to dominate his sport.

At just 17, phenom Littler has darts in a stranglehold. Almost a year after his grand reveal, when he stormed to the World Darts Championship final to be felled by fellow top dog Luke Humphries, the subsequent limelight has significantly boosted the Englishman's wallet.

He took home a cool £200,000 for making said final and a further £275,000 when he claimed his first major title with the Premier League in May - amid a flurry of successes on the Pro Tour and World Series.

Now, fellow darts supremo and 1994 world champion Dennis Priestley has predicted that if Littler stays the course and continues his dominance, he’ll eventually boast a net worth greater than footballing icon Beckham.

“Luke Littler is still so young, and his career could go one way or the other,” Priestley told host Wayne Mardle on his Club 501 YouTube channel.

“I just hope he’s surrounding himself with the right people who will keep him grounded. If they can do that and he can remain at the top of his game for 10 or so years, then he’ll be worth more than David Beckham.

“However, it’s hard for any player to remain at the top for that length of time. Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry managed a decade at the top of snooker, but it’s very difficult to go on for longer than that. Phil Taylor dominated darts for nearly 20 years but that is not the norm.”

Considering all of his exploits, including brand deals and TV appearances, Littler's current net worth stands at just over £650,000—and will approach the £1m mark should the teenager continue his ways on the professional circuit.

Even still, boyhood Red Devils fan Littler will have quite a way to go if he's to match the astronomical net worth of former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham, as various ventures have him holding an estimated net worth of nearly £400m.

In addition to his footballing earnings, Beckham’s post-career exploits include bringing expansion side Inter Miami to the MLS, accompanied by an ownership group, after the 49-year-old was handed the chance to found his own outfit as part of his lucrative LA Galaxy deal signed in 2007.

Beckham's £100m-topping brand deal with Adidas, penned in 1998, added to his fortune, and other major deals with Pepsi, Armani, Gillette, and his own whisky brand, Haig Club, have left starlet Littler with a mountain to climb if he is to reach such astronomical financial heights.
