Man Utd target Ruben Amorim spotted at training ground amid 'appointment delay'
Sporting Lisbon Ruben Amorim has been identfied as Manchester United's preferred option to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford but there appears to be some work still to do on a deal
by Daniel Orme · The MirrorManchester United target Ruben Amorim has arrived at Sporting Lisbon training as talks continue between the two clubs.
The Portuguese has been identified as the Red Devils preferred option to replace Erik ten Hag. And Sporting have already confirmed that they have received an approach from United.
A statement from the Portuguese club read: " Manchester United FC expressed interest in hiring coach Rúben Amorim, with the Board of Directors of Sporting SAD referring to the terms and conditions set out in the employment contract in force between the Company and the coach, specifically for the respective termination clause and for the amount of €10m.
" Manchester United FC expressed interest in paying Sporting SAD the value of the aforementioned clause."
But there appears to be some work still to be done before Amorim's move can be made official. According to Record, the two clubs are still in talks over a €5m severance package for Amorim's backroom team.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas is determined to get that fee. And that has left Amorim still in situ at Sporting. CNN Portugal report that the 39-year-old has shown up as usual for training on Wednesday.
He apparently arrived at the club's training ground at approximately 9am. He will take training as usual, with the session expected to revolve around recovery following a 3-1 win against Nacional on Tuesday evening.
Amorim spoke out on United's approach for his services after the game. He said: "We don't know if it's a farewell game, or if there will be one; that's still not been decided.

"In this moment, I have nothing to say and everything that I say will cause more noise. There's nothing concrete to say right now, but when I have to speak about the subject, I will. When I have something concrete to say and not just something that will fuel speculation, I will.
"We still don't know the finer details, and therefore we will see. But everything I say now will only fuel speculation. When I have something to say, and I've always been clear about my decisions. And the decision is mine as the statement stated. When I am sure of everything, everything will be easier because to say something now, is not the best action to take."
Meanwhile, Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres added: "Well, now he's here. I'm focussing on that; it's not something I know. It's not about me, so at the moment he's here. We will see what happens, but it's not something I put energy on."
