A popular BBC chat show is coming back for a third series, despite being shelved by bosses.

Chris and Rosie Ramsey will be returning to their show after it was forced to take a pause due to scheduling clashes. The married couple are set to make their comeback thanks to producers Avalon beginning work on a new run, according to reports. It is expected to air next year.

They had won over a legion of fans with their award-winning podcast Sh**ged Married Annoyed. It was so popular, Chris and Rosie were able to transfer the show to TV in 2022. Viewers loved the series, meaning it was promoted from BBC Two to BBC One for its second series.

“The BBC absolutely love Chris and Rosie, they’re a hilariously entertaining duo but most importantly, real, so it was a proper blow when they couldn’t get a third series underway," a source told the Sun. “The show was shelved until schedules could align and everyone is thrilled that work can now begin ahead of next year.”

The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show sees a celebrity couple invited onto the show to have a candid chat about their relationship. They probe into their pet peeves, parenting problems and annoyances. Stars who have taken part on the show include Tom Fletcher and wife Giovanna, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo as well as Shirlie and Martin Kemp.

Chris and Rosie, both 38, met as teenagers and had completely separate careers before the comedian introduced her to his world of work. The couple met when they were 14 and later went to the same college, but barely spoke. Chris thought Rosie was 'out of his league' and it wasn't until they got chatting at a local nightclub in 2012 that they hit it off.

His career in stand-up was burgeoning and she was a singer in a girl group. Rosie had also been a Pontins Bluecoat, toured in cabaret and worked as a radio DJ. In a previous interview, Chris told the Mirror: "What you have is two childhood show-offs who followed it into later life and made a career out of it."

Now with kids of their own, Robin, eight, and Rafe, three, the podcast seemed a natural way for them to work together. Rosie told the Mirror: "We are a normal couple who argue and fight and that's life. We live in a world of social media where people only put their highlights reels out and you think how perfect is that. Listeners say they have started airing their grievances in a funny, honest way with their partner and I think that's a really healthy thing to do."
