Kansas City Chiefs learn chances of trading Davante Adams as Las Vegas Raiders star nears exit

The Chiefs are in desperate need of receiving help, and have naturally been tied to Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams. However, a potential Adams-to-Kansas City trade has been dismissed

Despite the Kansas City Chiefs' depleted ranks receiving a boost with news that star Rashee Rice may not have torn his ACL, Patrick Mahomes and his team are still in desperate need of pass-catching assistance.

Rice is out for an indefinite period and free-agent signing Marquis "Hollywood" Brown will miss the entire season without playing a single snap. Veteran Travis Kelce caught seven passes for 89 yards but is still without a touchdown and is on pace for career lows across the board.

With rumours swirling about Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams potentially entering the trade block, Kansas City naturally threw their hat into the ring. However, ESPN Insider Adam Schefter quickly quashed any Adams-to-Kansas City speculation Wednesday afternoon.

"Two teams high on Davante Adams' wishlist of places to land - if not at the very top - are the Jets and Saints, per league sources," Schefter tweeted.

"There are other teams that remain interested in the Raiders wide receiver. Despite any speculation, the team not expected to be an option is Kansas City, per sources."

When questioned about the team's current options at receiver following the Rice injury, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was optimistic about his internal options. "We've got guys here that have experience of playing in the game," Reid said. "It's not that he's the only one, doesn't have to be the only one."

"We've got a good group of guys there that we can utilise, and we normally spread the ball around and that's what we'll continue to strive to do."

Davante Adams is reportedly on the hunt for a reunion with one of his old signal-callers: either Aaron Rodgers, his partner in crime at Green Bay from 2014-2021, or Derek Carr, who threw passes to him at Fresno State between 2011-2013 and during their time together with the Raiders in 2022.

Despite a stellar start in Las Vegas where he topped the charts with touchdowns, Adams' stint with the Raiders hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows. He was spotted looking notably detached on the sidelines as the Raiders faced an unexpected Week 3 defeat at home against the Carolina Panthers.

Adams sat out Week 4 due to a hamstring injury, and Raiders coach Antonio Pierce stirred the pot by liking a tweet suggesting Adams had donned the Raiders jersey for the last time.

The star wideout addressed his connection with Pierce on the "Up and Adams" show, revealing, "I haven't heard from him. I haven't talked to him," and noted the power of social media, saying, "Social media is a beast, so it's a lot of people out there that saw it and wondering what's going on and reaching out."

Pierce attempted to calm the waters in a recent press briefing, stating, "This is the NFL, things come up every day," and acknowledged the challenges of his role, adding, "Since I've taken over this job, it's been obstacles. This is another one."
