Divers are scouring a river in the search for a missing mother who vanished three days ago.

Victoria Taylor, 34, was last seen at an address in Malton, North Yorkshire, at 9am on Monday. Since then, her family have made a desperate appeal on social media for the mum to come home.

But now police have put more resources into the search, with specialist divers working at the River Derwent near Malton, which is around 23 miles southwest of Scarborough.

Victoria's sister had posted on Facebook: "My beautiful sister, please come home, Vicki." This message was widely shared but led to no recorded sightings of the mum, who is described as white, approximately 5ft 6in in height.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black Adidas original puffa jacket with white stripes down the sleeves and a grey Jack Wills hooded jumper.

North Yorkshire Police said today that members of the public should expect to see an increased police presence in Malton. They added that searches of the riverbanks would be carried out by their specialist underwater search team.

Inspector Leanne Anderson said: "There are a range of enquiries taking place to try and locate Victoria. This is still a missing person enquiry, and the focus of our activity is within the Malton / Norton area.

"Extensive searches will take place today and I would urge members of the public in the Malton / Norton areas to remain vigilant and report sightings or pass information to police immediately on 101 or 999."
