Katie Piper's ITV colleagues have rushed to provide support for the Loose Women star after she called out a troll who commented on her appearance.

The ITV panellist suffered a traumatising acid attack in 2008 orchestrated by her ex-partner. She suffered injuries to her face and eyesight and has been open about her experiences in multiple interviews. To this day, she continues to require medical treatment and surgeries to ease the issues caused by scar tissue.

In a recent post, a vile troll took to her comment section to ask her: "Where is your nose?" She responded: "Being pulled into my face by this scar tissue. It's incredibly painful." The troll then made the sick suggestion to Katie to jump from the window. Katie screenshotted the post and shared it on her page.

She added in a separate slide: "This is not ok, and it will never be ok. If you can write something, anything, negative online and press 'post', you are a special type of person. Publishing hate into the world hurts everyone, including yourself. Don't comment on my appearance, don't threaten my life, get off the internet and stay quiet."

Katie also added in the caption: "After completing my run this morning, feeling already depleted because of my bad time, I opened my phone to this. I can handle most things, but sometimes it adds to an already heavy load you are carrying. You never know how people are feeling, what they’re going through, how their days are and even if you did, the only person we’re judging because of this comment, is you.

"I wouldn’t usually call this out so personally, but this is beyond anything even I can handle. This behaviour should always be called out, people need to do better." Her fellow co-stars rushed to the comment section to share their support for her, with Coleen Nolan writing: "Oh god Katie this is so so vile ! I think these kind of people have no life , no friends and would prefer hate towards them then nothing at all.. I’m trying to feel sorry for this sad individual but I’m finding it really difficult.. you on the other hand are one of the most beautiful individuals I’ve ever met. Never let anyone dull your shine."

Beverley Knight said: "No one who is booked, busy and recognises their blessing has time to sit down and write this shit. You are one of the most wonderful examples of humanity I know," while Denise Welch added: "I'm literally speechless. It like Col says is because they'd rather have negative attention than non. Many so called journalists are the same."

Laura Whitmore said: "Bloody hell I’m sorry you have to see this Katie. People are unwell and this is why social media needs to be monitored." Harry Potter author J.K Rowling told Katie: "I'm so, so sorry. This is utterly vile. You're a beautiful, inspirational, much-loved woman, and that probably grates on lonely sociopaths who struggle to conceal the fact that they're slowly rotting from the inside out."
