BBc star Nick Knowles knows his way around home renovations after decades of presenting for DIY SOS.

However, when it comes to assembling things on his own, the Strictly Come Dancing star admits he finds it a little bit tricky. In a recent chat, the presenter admitted that his family sometimes "laugh at him" when he attempts DIY at home. The star said he isn't good at assembling flat-pack furniture.

The setback didn't stop Nick from insisting that he could build his own house. In a chat with The Times T2, Nick confessed: “My family laugh when I try to assemble flat-packs. I get frustrated because, like most men, I don’t read the instructions. But I could build my own house — easily. One day I just might.”

Flat-packs might not be his forte but the star is discovering new talents after joining BBC dance competition Strictly Come Dancing. The star is currently partnered up with Luba Mushtuk but missed a few training sessions due to a recent injury that meant he had to take some time off.

Last Saturday, he put on a brave face as he performed an American smooth foxtrot to Blur's Park Life. While he was able to dance without his arm in a sling, as his professional partner adapted her routine to his injury, Nick was seen cradling his arm while judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke assessed his performance.

Nick revealed in his recent interview that he lost more than two stone since he started training for the programme four weeks ago. He explained: "This is much tougher than rugby training. I can feel myself transforming from a very heavy bloke lumbering around the room to somebody who’s becoming lighter and more elegant on his feet."

During BBC Two's Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, a clip of Nick hard at work was shown to viewers at home. He was shown moving both his arms and twirling his dance partner around. Addressing the cameras, Nick said: "Luba has been extraordinary. From the moment she knew I was injured she has been looking at alternative ways. She must have rebuilt this dance ten times." And the professional dancer herself added: "He is looking incredibly well in hold. He has potential in ballroom!"

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.25pm on BBC One*
