England have appointed Thomas Tuchel as their new manager who will start the job in the New Year with all eyes set on the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. His first job will be to secure qualification - which starts in March - before taking the Three Lions with the aim to win the World Cup.

Former Chelsea head coach Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract meaning his sole focus and performance will be based on how England will do in the 2026 World Cup over in USA, Canada and Mexico the following season. The bookies expect England to be up there to mount a challenge but will need to improve from their quarter-final appearances two years ago under Gareth Southgate and the semi-final appearance back in Russia in 2018 too.

Bookies William Hill have priced Tuchel to be successful under the Three Lions at 2/1 to lift either the World Cup trophy or win Euro 2028 two years later. Tuchel's record in cup competitions speaks for itself and has already won the Champions League while he was at Stamford Bridge which excites many England fans.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “The FA have chosen Thomas Tuchel as Gareth Southgate’s successor and we make England 2/1 to win either the 2026 World Cup or Euro 2028 under the German coach.

“Despite his impressive CV, Tuchel ruffled a few feathers during his time at Chelsea and Bayern Munich and we price him at 12/1 to be sacked before the 2026 World Cup rolls around.

“Harry Kane worked under Tuchel at Bayern and is our favourite to be the first goalscorer of England’s new era at 7/2, with Chelsea sensation Cole Palmer 5/1 and midfield maestro Jude Bellingham slightly longer at 8/1.”
