Liam Payne's death investigation takes new turn as police demand access to hotel computers

Police are continuing to probe the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where One Direction star Liam Payne tragically fell to his death aged 31 on October 16

The investigation into One Direction star Liam Payne's death continues, with police said to have swooped in on the hotel where he fell to his death.

The singer died aged 31 on October 16 after falling from a third floor balcony at Casa Sur in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His death sent shockwaves around the world, with many fans and famous faces paying heartbreaking tributes.

Now, police are said to be requesting further information from the hotel in the Argentinian capital, with sources claiming the venue "must provide" more security footage to investigators. It's also said more information regarding who was working on the day has been requested.

According to US Weekly, police are seeking to identify Casa Sur workers who had been working on the day of star's death as well as in the days the tragedy. As part of the police raid, a source told the publication, they were seeking documents within the hotel’s registration books as well as taking information from its computers.

The reports come after Liam's bodyguard, Paul Higgins was spotted with the police at the establishment reviewing security footage. Higgins was also seen interviewing several hotel employees to try to find out who reportedly supplied the late One Direction singer Liam with alleged narcotics as widely reported on mainstream media.

According to Argentine media reports, the star had traces of cocaine in his body, forensic experts have discovered. News portal Infobae said materials extracted from the singer’s body in an autopsy following his death last Wednesday had “determined the presence of the class-A drug.”

Liam's devastated girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, shared an emotional post on Wednesday, revealing the pair had planned to marry. The 25-year-old revealed Liam had written her a romantic note - which he asked her not to read - in which he said that they would get married within a year. The note read: "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444." The number 444 is considered an angel number, with special significance.

Fans have also set up a campaign to introduce legislation that could help musicians receive support while dealing with life in the spotlight following the singer's death. The cause, calling for "Liam's Law" to be established, has hit its initial target of 12,000 signatures and continues to grow, with over 75,000 names currently on the document.

Liam had previously discussed his struggles with sobriety and opened up with candid details of his at times fragile mental health. The revelations have since angered fans who think that he died seemingly without support. The petition aims to realise a proposition Liam suggested made to give greater support to support young musicians.
