Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has had a glamorous makeover as she prepares for her first Christmas since the death of her husband

Kate Garraway has been getting into the Christmas spirit early as she underwent a glamorous festive makeover, ahead of having her first Yuletide without husband Derek Draper.

The 57-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter looked sensational in a photoshoot for Woman & Home as she admits that she wants to make Christmastime "fun and happy" for the sake of their children Darcey, 18, and Billy, 15.

Derek passed away in January, aged 56, after suffering four years of complications from Covid-19 of which he spent mostly in hospital. Kate has showed that she wants to put her best foot forward this Christmas and she looked stunning in a silver jumpsuit before wowing in a pale cream dress.

Speaking to the magazine about her plans this Christmas, Kate said that she is determined to make it a happy place. She said: "This Christmas will be difficult, as all the firsts are, but I've said to the kids, 'Let's do what feels right, do some new things and make new memories'. You've got to try and let things evolve into new memories, and I'm going to be led by them."

Kate said that recent Christmases had been "challenging" due to Derek's illness despite the joy of having him still around. Kate added: "It will be our first Christmas without Derek, but to be honest, the last four or five Christmases have been challenging, although we've also had the joy of having Derek there with us.

"I hope I won't be blubbing all day, but I'm sure there will be emotional moments. However, I want it to be fun and happy for Darcey and Billy because it's been a tough few years for them. Maybe they'll think, 'At least Dad's out of pain.."

Kate's fellow GMB presenter Laura Tobin has spoken about how the team on the ITV breakfast show rallied around Kate after Derek's passing. She said: "Always. She is amazing, and I’ve just bought a house and we’re doing renovations, and she is always asking me: ‘How is the house going?’ And I just think, how do you even remember what’s going on in other people’s lives? She’s always looking out for everyone else, and we’re trying to look out for her. She just seems to soldier on.

“She’s still crazy - when we look at her dressing room before she arrives it’s clean - and 30 seconds later it looks like a bomb has gone off. She’s like a calamity, but she’s super smart, and she remembers every interview she’s ever done and everyone she’s ever spoken to. I think people might underestimate her ability and intelligence, but as soon as the cameras roll, she’s on it.”
