Singer Liam Payne spent precious time "doing what he loved" with his parents as he celebrated what would become his final birthday just weeks before his death.

The One Direction star turned 31 on August 29 and made the most of the day by going bowling with his parents Karen and Geoff and girlfriend Kate Cassidy. Liam and his family - including sisters Nicoa and Ruth - travelled to Manchester for the outing and stayed in the lavish Stock Exchange Hotel in the city, which is owned by Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.

Liam was posting on Snpachat for his fans throughout the celebration as he made jokes about how his security guard would be sacked if he beat him at bowling again. Liam was also seen joking about how "nothing rhymes with 31" as Kate suggested "31 the dirty one?" to which he laughed as he replied: "No it's dirty 30, I've surpassed that."

Liam also proudly showed off the hoodie Kate bought him as they headed to the bowling alley. A source told The Sun of the outing: "Liam was with his mum in Manchester where they celebrated his birthday with family. They were still incredibly close and enjoyed spending time together bowling. Liam's family stayed with him for a few days at the Stock Exchange Hotel.

"It's tragic to think that ended up being the last time they would celebrate his special day with him." Liam's family admitted their devastation at his death in a statement. They said: "We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."

Liam's uncle Roger Harris also told MailOnline: 'We are all just deeply saddened and trying to come to terms with it. I just hope everybody gives them some privacy really and allows them to come to terms with it. That's all I can say.' Another relative speaking at Payne's family home in Wolverhampton - the city where he was born and grew up - told MailOnline: "We are utterly devastated by the news."

Liam fell to his death from a third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday. Witnesses at the hotel in the country's capital have recalled how Liam was acting erratically moments before his death, with police previously saying the music star's hotel room had been "in complete disarray" with "various items broken". They added that a whiskey bottle, lighter and mobile phone had been retrieved from the internal hotel courtyard where Liam’s body was found.

It has now come to light that Liam spent his final weeks alive spreading joy and donating to those in need. Various donations to several good causes have been revealed since his death. Earlier this month Liam donated $3000 to help a 28-year-old called Jack financially while receiving treatment for Stage 4 B Cell Lymphoma. In September he sent $5000 to a GoFundMe for a family of a four-year-old with cancer to pay household bills as the child battles the disease for a second time.

Liam also sent $1000 to a GoFundMe set up to help teenager Taylor Jones who was severely injured during a school shooting on September 4th. He gifted $2,900 to a four-year-old recovering from a stroke on another fundraiser. All of his donations were made as 'Liam Payne' with no message.

Liam was captured live on Snapchat contributing to GoFundMe campaigns for American children in dire need of medical surgeries just before he died. He opened up about his donations, saying: "As a father, it hits me differently. I would want everyone in the world helping. I have been spending the last few nights trying to finish off the donations so they can get the operations they need - they would be free in my country.

"I can't look at a sick child and not see Bear. I can't and I won't. I'm not asking for people to say well done or I'm amazing - I don't give a f*** about what people think of me. What I care about is that that child gets to live the life it's supposed to."

In the days following his death, Liam's generosity was also acknowledged by food bank charity The Trussell Trust. Emma Revie, CEO, said: "We are extremely saddened by the news of Liam Payne's death. Over the last four years, Liam was a generous supporter of Trussell and our community of food banks, not only funding the provision of more than 360,000 meals during Covid but also often joining us in calling for the solutions required to end the need for emergency food."

She continued, "We greatly appreciate the compassion and kindness he always showed to people facing hunger and hardship. His death is a very tragic loss, and our thoughts are with his loved ones."
