Radio 2 schedule shake-up as Vernon Kay replaced day after Zoe Ball return

Radio 2 listeners expecting to hear Vernon Kay on the airwaves today were given a shock when the Bolton-born star was suddenly replaced by Gaby Roslin

Radio 2 has faced another presenter shake-up as Vernon Kay was replaced on his mid-morning show on Tuesday.

The switch-up comes a day after Zoe Ball made her comeback to the Breakfast Show after six weeks away.

Gaby Roslin was forced to sit in for a poorly Vernon as she revealed that the broadcaster was not feeling well enough to present to the nation. She gave fans an update this morning and said: "Gaby in for Vernon Kay. It's a joy to be here.

"Vernon, I hope your throat is feeling better. I was listening yesterday, I love the show but did worry about your throat. So take it easy, no talking today."

Vernon also took to Instagram as told fans he would be missing his regular 9.30am slot.

He warned: "Morning everyone, under doctors orders I'm resting my voice. It should be alright tomorrow, but I'm going to slide away from the microphone this morning and just rest the vocal cords.
