Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp's secret job agreement as Diogo Jota reaches Porto deal

Jurgen Klopp's move to Red Bull came as a shock to Liverpool supporters, but the legendary German manager has actually been planning for his next role for years

Jurgen Klopp has a new job.

Five months after waving goodbye to Anfield in emotional fashion, the beloved former Liverpool boss has agreed to become Red Bull's head of global soccer. It's a move which has garnered controversy thanks to Red Bull's continued unpopularity in German football, and although the energy drinks company-turned-sporting organisation and Klopp only announced the news on Wednesday, the deal has been in place for longer than we first thought.

Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has been using the international break to further his interests outside of football, teaming up with former club Porto. Plus, right-back Conor Bradley has been speaking about his role under Arne Slot.

Here's a round-up of the latest news from Anfield.

Klopp agreed Red Bull job while still at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp's switch to Red Bull has been two years in the making. The former Liverpool boss announced on Wednesday that he'd be starting his first role after leaving Anfield in January next year, and now it's emerged that he agreed the move in 2022 for a heartfelt reason.

German outlet TZ report that Klopp was invited to a secret meeting in Salzburg with Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz. It's explained that the Austrian billionaire, who was terminally ill at the time, personally convinced Klopp to join Red Bull. Mateschitz passed away at the age of 78 only a few weeks later.

Jota strikes Porto gaming deal

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has reached a deal with former club Porto in the world of eSports. Jota, 27, played for the Portuguese giants on loan in the 2016-17 season before signing for Wolves.

And now they've crossed paths again, with Jota agreeing for his eSports team, Luna, to combine with Porto. Luna play across popular games including EA Sports FC, Dota 2 and Rocket League.

Bradley dismisses Liverpool theory

Conor Bradley doesn't see a big difference between his roles for Liverpool and Northern Ireland - even though the right-back is more of an attacker for his country. Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neil relies on Bradley, 21, as his only Premier League player, tasking him with going forward.

The Liverpool defender was asked ahead of their clash with Belarus whether he feels extra pressure for his nation. "It's different, but it's similar as well," Bradley explained. "When I play for Liverpool, I'm almost playing as a right winger sometimes because we usually have most of the possession in games so I'm quite high up, trying to create chances for the strikers."
