Daniel Dubois makes brutal vow about Anthony Joshua ahead of fight

Daniel Dubois makes the first defence of his heavyweight world title when he takes on Anthony Joshua at Wembley this weekend

by · The Mirror

Daniel Dubois has vowed to "finish" Anthony Joshua off when the British rivals clash at Wembley.

Joshua has twice bounced back from losing his heavyweight world titles - first to Andy Ruiz Jr and then to Oleksandr Usyk - to stand on the brink of becoming a three-time champion. He has strung together four successive victories over the last 18 months and is aiming to complete his comeback against Dubois.

But the younger man, who was upgraded to full champion when Oleksandr Usyk gave up his IBF belt to instead rematch Tyson Fury, intends to ensure their is no third reign for Joshua. "It's my job to do him in and finish him," he said. "The time for talking is over. I'm zoned in and focused; let's get down to business and go to war."

“I’m feeling good, confident. I’m just relaxed and soaking it all up. Soaking up the energy, it’s good. I’m just going to feed off of that energy and build it up. I can’t wait for it. It’s my time. I’m ready for it. You guys are going to see that this is my time. I’m the man. I need to go out there and legitimise it. I’m the champ [and I'll win] by any means necessary."

Dubois' promoter Frank Warren expects the fight to be explosive with both men possessing KO power in both hands, “I’m excited. I think we’ve got a fabulous show on Saturday night. It’s going to be an all-action fight," he said. "They’re both massive punchers, it won’t go the distance but it’s going to be really exciting while it lasts.

"This is huge. 96,000 people, that’s all you need to know. It’s the biggest attendance ever in Europe for a fight. That says it all. That’s how it should be as well. It’s a tremendous card, Wembley special Riyadh Season – it’s an unbelievable completive fight card with great great fights all the way through. Don’t blink, every fight is going to be an absolute barnstormer – every one of them. It’s fabulous, I mean look at it – everyone has come out for it.

"This is what it’s all about. It’s big-time boxing, it’s boxing at the highest level. Eddie and I couldn’t put a card together like this, because of the fact that it’s being sponsored and put together in association with Riyadh Season. It makes it work. It’s been an unbelievable year for boxing."
