Jennifer Lopez ex staff member responds to rumours of singer's knowledge of Diddy allegations
A former member of Jennifer Lopez's staff has come forward to claim that the singer would have had no knowledge of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' crimes as he's arrested over sex trafficking
by Lucretia Munro · The MirrorA former staff member of Jennifer Lopez has claimed that the singer "did not have any idea about Diddy" as speculation over her knowledge of his allegations has mounted over recent weeks.
Sean "Diddy" Combs, 55, is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York. He was arrested in September for a series of allegations including sex trafficking and racketeering and has been denied bail. His trial is expected to take place next May. The rapper has denied all allegations made against him.
Jennifer Lopez dated the rapper between 1999 and 2001 and it has been widely speculated that she may have known about the record executive's crimes during their relationship. But now, Thea de Souza, who worked in development for the singer in early 2000's took to social media to address the claims, and stated Jennifer had zero knowledge about Diddy's crimes.
She wrote: "If you knew Jennifer Lopez, if you ever worked with her like I did, or if you were close with people who are like family to her like I am, you would know she did not have any idea about Diddy." She made the statement on Threads. She continued: "She barely drinks, she is not a partier, she isn’t a good time girl, she is a workaholic who uplifts woman and who was charmed by him for a brief time in her life."
Concluding her post, she went on to say JLo "does not deserve to be conflated with [Diddy's] shocking and criminal misdeeds." Jennifer, who has recently split with actor Ben Affleck, had previously spoken about her "emotionally exhausting" romance with Sean.
Speaking about their two year relationship, she previously said: "And we broke up many times before that, and got back together and broke up again, and nobody knew about it. It was very tempestuous. Towards the end it was emotionally exhausting. It was good that I was young."
And in 2001, she told Rolling Stone magazine: "He told me many times, 'I want a divorce.' I would be away a lot, or he would... he couldn't go far, whatever, but he would say, 'So, where do I send the paper?" The couple were never married. Jennifer's relationship with the hip hop star came under scrutiny after Sean was accused of sexual assault of a 13 year old girl the same night Jennifer was pictured arguing with Sean at a party. This occurred before leaving later that evening with his entourage.
In a statement issued by his legal team, the rapper has denied all allegations of sexual assault including that of a minor. The statement issued last month said: "Mr Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defences, and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail that Mr Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone - adult or minor, man or woman."
The alleged crime is said to have to have occurred at a house later that night, according to reports. Sean has denied the allegations and his legal team told DailyMail.com the rapper "never sexually assaulted anyone." The team has also claimed that the recent "barrage of filings" were "clear attempts to garner publicity." Sean spent his latest birthday earlier this week behind bars as he awaits trial.
