Audiences were left in disbelief as one Tipping Point enthusiast failed to answer a series of seemingly "easy" questions correctly.

The popular ITV game show was hosted by Ben Shephard once again, inviting contestants to tackle trivia for the chance to grab counters to play the machine and bag some cash.

While Steph had a streak of good fortune, reaching the final round, competitor Malik experienced something of a quiz calamity missing two "easy" questions successively.

During his time under the spotlight, Malik was tested by Ben for an opportunity to earn counters and potentially scoop the jackpot, yet stumbled on a pair of questions causing quite a stir among viewers on Twitter (X), leaving them utterly dumbfounded.

Ben asked a question about a Liverpool band from the 1960s that had a string of number 1 hits, but Malik failed to name The Beatles, which was the correct answer. There was another question about the capital city of Greece, which Malik answered quickly and confidently, telling Ben "Rome" when the correct answer was "Athens".

As he realised his mistake, he scolded himself but it wasn't too long before Twitter fans picked up on the error. One wrote: "'What's the capital of Greece?' Malik 'Rome'," whilst another added: "Rome is a Greek city, is it? #TippingPoint." (sic)

Another added: "Ah yes, that well-known Greek capital city - Rome! #TippingPoint," with a fourth sharing: "Oh dear. The lack of geographical knowledge nowadays never ceases to amaze and sadden me. Capital of Greece, Rome #tippingpoint." (sic)

Steph ended up leaving the show with £3,200 after refusing to take the risk. She is on maternity leave and was keen to buy herself a car as she would no longer get her company one when she goes back to work.

She was asked to play the final three counters to see if she would have won, but on realising it wouldn't happen, she said she felt "amazing". She told host Ben: "I've had an amazing time, thank you, Ben!"

Ben warned viewers Steph could have lost everything if she had gambled with the final three counters. However, it was a happy ending as Steph took home her total prize money of £3,200.

Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
