Kate Lawler slams nasty anorexia rumours as she insists 'I do eat'
Former Big Brother star Kate Lawler hit back at cruel trolls who made anorexia claims based on her slim physique
by Zara Woodcock · The MirrorKate Lawler said she's 'happy with her size' as she shut down the trolls who claimed she had an eating disorder.
The 44-year-old star has dealt with endless comments from vile social media users who hit out at her weight, with them claiming she suffered from anorexia. When the star posted a number of swimsuit snaps online last year, some accused her of 'triggering anorexics' and being in a 'serious calorie deficit'.
Speaking to Anna Richardson about the cruel comments on the It Can't Just Be Me podcast, she explained: "People are like, 'You can't be eating,' but I am happy with the size I am. I do eat. People will either body shame you for being overweight and being underweight. You don't have to send abuse to troll them."
It's not the first time Kate has been trolled over her size, with the star hitting back at vile users many times over the years. Last year, she was forced to defend herself after a follower alleged she was sending the "wrong message" to young girls. After Kate posted a mirror selfie, which showed off her slender frame, one fan fumed: “You are beautiful but I do worry about what message it sends to young girls.”
Another fired at her: “Kate loves the attention… hence another one of these posts! Each to their own but I’d rather eat crisps and look like me!” The former Big Brother winner hit back in the comments, and replied: “What message do you think I’m trying to make here? As I eat a raspberry croissant for breakfast I’m genuinely curious to hear your reply.”
However, one concerned fan remarked that Kate was “at her skinniest” and some followers were genuinely worried about her health. “I think the concern is whether fat or thin, or anything in between, when your body shape has changed quite as much as Kates has, people, worry because it’s not normal,” they wrote.
Kate's husband Martin Bojtos had to jump to his wife's defence on one occasion when she shared pictures from their family trip across Europe. When followers commented on her body size, her husband said: “I love that people are concerned about my wife's weight when I cook for her.
"Guys, chill - it's the camera angle. Put the phone down and go outside for a bit." Kate's twin sister also said: "Can’t believe the comments i am reading.. My twin sis has always been slim.. we both have so much energy and that’s how she’s always been.. plus a mother to a toddler we all know you don’t stop!! trust me Kate eats loads."
