Eamonn Holmes consoled by former 'professional mistress' before dating glam girlfriend

Eamonn Holmes was consoled by a former "professional mistress" before dating his glam girlfriend, it has been reported.

Sarah Symonds has opened up about how she has supported the TV star over the years as he has confided in her. She said that he would email her about his health and relationship issues.

The 54-year-old explained that the two of them have been in touch for years as she would offer a shoulder to cry on through his difficult times. However, Sarah has said she has felt silly recently as she found out that Eamonn actually had a new girlfriend.

She told the Daily Mail: "After he and Ruth announced they were splitting up, he sent me a number of gloomy emails saying that his health was bad and everything was difficult. I was sympathetic, of course. Then I saw he had a girlfriend and I felt a bit silly offering support when he had a woman on his arm.

"As for his health – dear me it can't have been all that bad if he's having a romance! I mean, I really didn't think he had it in him. You have to admire his chutzpah don't you in a wheelchair, with his mistress, looking like the cat who got the cream?"

"I was flattered that he took the time to have an email friendship with me, but wondered why he would sail so close to the flame with someone who runs a mistresses' ­support group. I am always up front about who and what I am," Sarah added.

Eamonn and Ruth announced back in May that they were splitting up after 14 years of marriage and having their son Jack, 22. However, Eamonn has already moved on and found love with 42-year-old Katie Alexander.

Despite the pair being together just a few months, it looks like they're both in for the long run. A source told Heat Magazine : "Katie is telling everyone that she's totally smitten and in love. They've known each other for nine years, so this isn't a fly-by-night relationship - she's in it for the long haul."

It has been reported that Katie and Eamonn are currently in the process of finding somewhere to live together, with the source adding: "They're now looking at places to move in together, as they want a lot more space."

Meanwhile, Loose Women star Ruth is said to be "ready to date" again, though the divorce proceedings are said to have "turned sour" after the revelation of Eamonn's new girlfriend. Despite this, a source said: "While Ruth's making the most of being single, she's also ready to dip her toe back into the dating pool - and after some friendly flirting, she's given pals the go-ahead to set her up on dates."
