UK snow: Exact date weather maps turn white as Brits face '150 mile' snow blitz

Multiple towns in one particular area will be in the firing line for a 150-mile-long 'snow blast' - which will hit in just a few days, along with rain and chilly temperatures

Several UK towns are bracing for a 150-mile-long snow blast - with weather maps turning a frosty white as temperatures continue to dip across the nation.

According to WXCharts, parts of the country can expect snowfall as early as this weekend, on October 31, accompanied by rain and chilly weather. Many Brits in Northwest Scotland are set to see their local areas blanketed in snow on Halloween weekend, with several areas in the firing line.

Among these are Talmine, Tongue, Kylesku, Lairg, Ullapool, Dingwall, Garve, Kinlochewe, Strathcarron, Cannich, Fort Augustus, and Mallaig. Brits in the north and south of England will meanwhile dodge the snowfall and instead see largely dry weather with light drizzles of rain.

In Scotland, rain is expected to sweep across much of the region, including in Wick, Inverness, Fort William, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dumfries - as well as all of Northern Ireland, including Derry and Belfast. Temperatures are set to drop to their lowest, with lows of 6C expected in Wick, Inverness, and Fort William.

The rest of Scotland, including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow, as well as northern England, including Newcastle and Carlisle, will see temperatures ranging from 7C to 9C.

Elsewhere in Northern Ireland, Wales, and parts of northern England, including Liverpool and Sheffield, temperatures will range from a more comfortable 8C to 10C. Meanwhile, the midlands and the south of England, including Birmingham, Cambridge, Norwich, London, Bath, Southampton, and Plymouth, will experience temperatures between 11C and 13C, reports the Express.

It comes as Brits were warned to brace for a -5C icy blast with snow also blanketing swathes of the country next month. According to WXCharts, some areas will face up to an 80% chance of snowfall. Wintry showers are expected to cover a large part of the Highlands on Saturday November 2, with temperatures overnight dipping below freezing across large areas the UK.

Scotland is set to bear the brunt on Monday, November 4, with the Highlands and Scottish borders most likely to turn white. The forecast also suggested that the northern Pennines in England could also get a dusting of snow.

While the Met Office has not explicitly forecast snow, it does predict some overnight frosts. Its long-range forecast says: "Initially breezy or windy with large amounts of cloud and some outbreaks of rain, especially in northern and western areas, with generally drier conditions farther southeast."

"However, high pressure is likely to build more strongly across southern UK into next week, tending to restrict the majority of any wet and windy weather to the far northwest. That said, areas of cloud trapped underneath this area of high pressure may still produce some drizzly rain in places, with an increased chance of frost and fog under any lengthier clear spells, perhaps slow to clear."
