With FIFA yet to make its own football game following its split from EA Sports, Konami's eFootball has been selected as the game of choice for the upcoming FIFAe World Cup 2024.

Following the split between EA Sports and FIFA in 2022 that saw the long-running FIFA game series come to an end, EA has continued to control the football gaming scene with its new EA Sports FC game series, with EA FC 25 the latest instalment. Despite last year's confirmation that a new FIFA game will be made and president Gianni Infantino teasing its existence earlier this year, there has been no public progress on any new FIFA game, meaning a different game will be used for the 2024 FIFAe World Cup – eFootball.

eFootball is the rebranding of Konami's popular Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) game series, with the free-to-play game has totalling over 750 million downloads worldwide. Since the split between FIFA and EA, this will be the first FIFAe World Cup where eFootball will be used, with Football Manager 2024 and Rocket League also having FIFAe World Cup 2024 tournaments of their own.

The 2024 FIFAe World Cup will be held across two platforms – console and mobile. Players on PS4 and PS5 can compete in the console category, so it's bad luck for any players on Xbox or PC. The competition will be held offline this year, with 18 countries from around the world competing in the tournament.

Anyone can attempt to qualify for the 2024 FIFAe World Cup finals, with in-game eFootball rewards also available to earn, just by playing the qualifiers. Players not from the eligible 18 countries can still compete until Round 3 of the in-game qualifiers, meaning they can still receive in-game rewards.

2024 FIFAe World Cup – how it works and how to qualify

If you want to compete in the 2024 FIFAe World Cup, then the in-game qualifiers are currently live in-game now. When players proceed with the in-game qualifiers, they can receive in-game rewards of up to 50 eFootball coins, 5,000 eFootball points, 30,000 Exp, and three skill training programs.

Only 18 countries can qualify for the 2024 FIFAe World Cup Finals, though as mentioned earlier, everyone can enter the in-game qualifiers to earn the in-game rewards. Here's a list of the 18 confirmed countries that can qualify for the final stage of the competition:

  • Japan
  • Thailand
  • Indonesia
  • South Korea
  • India
  • Malaysia
  • Saudi Arabia
  • France
  • Spain
  • Portugal
  • Turkey
  • Netherlands
  • Poland
  • England
  • Morocco
  • Costa Rica
  • Argentina
  • Brazil

And here's the confirmed schedule for the 2024 FIFAe World Cup:

  • October 10 October 20: three-part in-game qualifiers
  • October 28 – November 3: National Nomination Phases in the 18 competing countries
  • End of 2024 FIFAe World Cup Final Round

There's no confirmation of where the Final Round will take place, but all we know is that it's offline, so each player will have to travel to the same location to compete.
