Fans have leapt to Margot Robbie's defence after she was cruelly trolled over pictures of her growing pregnant body as she expects her first child with husband Tom Ackerley

Fans have reacted with fury after Margot Robbie was trolled over her pregnant body.

One influencer was so incensed by the abuse the 34-year-old was getting, she made a video calling it out. Reading some of the comments out, body confidence champion Alex Light revealed the Harley Quinn star had cruelly been dubbed ‘Margot Blobbie’ by some trolls – who are mainly thought to be men.

Another sickening comment said: “She was a 9 before, now a solid 5.” A third social media user posted this ridiculousness: “I would never let my girl get that big when she gets pregnant.” And a fourth said: “She’s got the wide pregnancy nose now – definitely over for Harley Quinn.”

In a desperate plea to her 570,000 Instagram followers, a fuming Alex – who revealed some of the comments ‘gave her whiplash’ they were so bad – said: “I mean this is what people ae saying about Margot Robbie’s pregnancy body on the internet. I just feel like this really speaks to something that we all need to internalise.

“Margot Robbie is considered to be one of the most beautiful women in the entire world, so I think we should let this serve as reminder that no matter who we are or what we look like, our bodies and the way we look will always be scrutinised.”

Alex continued: “So, let’s just let ourselves live and be free of the burden of all these impossible and unachievable societal expectations that affect literally all of us. For the record, Margot Robbie looks great and she should be allowed to just enjoy her holiday without people dissecting how her body is changing.”

Posting in the caption, she added: “I mean it’s RIDICULOUS at this point. And it just goes to show that no matter WHO you are – even if you are Margot f***ing Robbie and considered to be like the most beautiful woman on the planet – people will have something to say. Essentially, there’s no way to win, so we may as well free ourselves of the harmful standards and just focus our attention outside of how we look.”

Fans were quick to echo Alex’s fury in the comments below, with one writing: “Men hate us for not wanting children and hate us when we’re carrying a child. Make it make sense!” Another hit back: “But it’s acceptable to have a dad bod when you’re not growing any life...”

A third rightly pointed out: “Love how these men think Margot Robbie, the sexiest woman on the planet, would give two s***s that some middle aged man who’s balding thinks of her while she’s growing a baby with the man she loves, living her multi-millionaire lifestyle as one of the world’s best female actresses. She is and will continue to be a goddess!”

“Notice that all the comments are from men saying Margot – a visibly very slim woman, even while pregnant – is too big. Like if this woman was any smaller her pregnancy would most likely be a high risk one. Men literally will not be happy until women disappear. This isn’t really about how she looks. It’s about misogyny,” a fourth chimed in.

While a fifth fumed: “I would never let my wife get that big when she’s pregnant?’ WTAF? I hope the women in his future read that comment and he never creates children because that thought process needs to end with him.”

Barbie star Margot is currently expecting her first child with producer husband Tom Ackerley, also 34. The pair met on a movie set in 2014 and married two years later. Margot previously said of how she met her love: “I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit.

“Then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him. And then it happened and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.’”
