Fatman Scoop's cause of death revealed after rapper dies at 56 during stage performance

Legendary musician Fatman Scoop died at the age of 56 in August after he collapsed during a performance in front of adoring fans at a free concert which he was headlining

Fatman Scoop’s cause of death has been confirmed after the US rapper died in late August after collapsing on stage.

The 56-year-old was performing at a gig in Connecticut when the tragic incident took place. At the time, in a post on social media, his tour manager Birch Michael – known as Pure Cold – announced the sudden death of the much-loved rapper. At the time, he wrote: “It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman III, known professionally as Fatman Scoop. You taught me how to be the man I am today. I love you Scoop, thank you so much for everything you gave to me.”

In the heartbreaking Instagram post, he continued: “I am honestly lost for words… You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today.”

Now the rapper’s cause of death has been revealed by the Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, who also ruled the death as natural, as reported by Fox News. The rapper died from as a result of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Hypertensive heart disease arises from untreated high blood pressure over a long time and atherosclerosis is the arteries becoming harder as a result of an accumulation of fat, cholesterol and other substances in the arteries.

The rapper didn't have any concerns about his health and he "sounded on good form" just days before his sudden and tragic death. Tributes have since been paid to the artist whose real name is Isaac Freeman III following the news. It includes tributes from booking agency MN2S, who worked with him for over a decade, and his representative Sharron Elkabas.

Asked if Fatman Scoop had any concerns about his health, Sharron told the Mirror: "No, he was in good health and spirits. He ate very clean and would juice fresh fruit and vegetables daily. It was part of his hospitality rider."

Sharron, who said that he handled the artist's international shows, but not those in the US, also told us: "I spoke to him on Monday after he did a show in Paris, and he was in good spirits. He sounded on good form. This news has come as a huge and devastating shock, it's still sinking in."

And sharing an insight into what Fatman Scoop was like away from his stage persona, the representative stated about him: "The loveliest guy, he would love to talk on all topics. He was such a people's person and had a way of socially connecting with people from all walks and backgrounds."
