Sporting Lisbon reportedly have "complaints" over the disruption Ruben Amorim's move to Manchester United is causing to their season - with the Portuguese outfit currently top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga and having some crucial games coming up

Sporting Lisbon feel they have been 'left in the lurch' by Manchester United bringing their manager Ruben Amorim to Old Trafford at a "critical" stage of the season - as talks continue over the terms of his exit.

The Portuguese club announced this week they were in talks with United over the 39-year-old coach after the Red Devils expressed interest following Erik ten Hag's axing.

The two clubs are now discussing details of how much United will pay Sporting and when exactly Amorim will join them, with the manager staying in charge until the teams come to a full agreement.

However, the Telegraph have reported how Sporting have "complaints" over the disruption this move is causing to their season. Lisbon are currently top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga and have some crucial games coming up - including against Manchester City and title rivals Braga.

The club are said to be worried over having to bring a new coach in at such a crucial part of the campaign as they prepare to lose up to five first team coaches when Amorim takes them to Old Trafford.

The report also adds there is "unhappiness" among "several" Sporting Lisbon players because Amorim asked them for loyalty and commitment in the last transfer window - only to then leave the club after getting a big offer and taking his staff with him.

It's understood Amorim will join United after the next international break and manage his first game against Ipswich Town on November 24, with United paying Sporting £10m in compensation - in addition to extras for his staff - negotiating around his 30-day notice period.

It comes after United pulled the trigger on Ten Hag following a dismal start to the season that saw the team slump to 14th after just 11 points from their first nine league games.

United are also winless in the Europa League with Ten Hag's two-year reign ended despite winning two trophies during his stint at Old Trafford - with his assistant and club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy put in temporary charge.

The team thumped Leicester City 5-2 in the Carabao Cup in Van Nistelrooy's first game in charge and face a huge game against Chelsea this weekend. The Dutchman said he would do whatever is needed to assist the Red Devils until a full-time boss was appointed.

"Of course – I came here as an assistant to help the club," the ex-striker declared after guiding his side to victory. "Now in this role, I'm helping as long as needed. In the future in any capacity, I'm here to help the club further to build towards the future – that's what I'm here for."
