As a future King, Prince George is following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William. But there is one area of William's life he will not be emulating - if mum Kate has anything to do with it.

The Princess previously revealed that one of her husband's passions utterly terrifies her and voiced her concern that George will want to give it a go at some point in the future. Kate opened up in 2015 when the royal couple paid a visit to the Scottish city of Dundee, during which they participated in a family fun day.

It's no secret that William used to love riding motorbikes in his youth, and Kate was asked during the royal engagement whether William would still ride from time to time. She admitted: "He's still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I'm terrified. Hopefully, I'm going to keep George off it."

At the time, the couple's eldest son was just two, while his younger sister Charlotte was only just a few months old. And it seems becoming a father had a major impact on William's outlook. The Prince updated royal fans on his riding habits in 2018, after the birth of their third child, Prince Louis . During a trip to the Isle of Man TT motorcycle races, William explained that he wasn't riding anymore, saying: "I'm a dad of three. I have to tone it down. I miss the big trips, for me biking was always about being with everybody else."

Nowadays, Prince William prefers a different mode of transport. The royal has been spotted zipping around the Windsor estate on his e-scooter, which he purchased in 2023. It's illegal to ride on an e-scooter on public roads, but they can be used on private land, like William does. The Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children reside on the Windsor estate at Adelaide Cottage, and William regularly hosts meetings at the castle.

It's a three-mile round trip between the Wales family's home and Windsor Castle, making it a 30-minute walk. And William, who shares his father the King's passion for the environment, prefers not to make unnecessary car journeys. Prince William isn't the only member of the royal family to make steps towards sustainability with his vehicles. King Charles' Aston Martin, which he has owned for more than 50 years, runs on surplus English white wine and whey from the cheesemaking process, rather than petrol. Talking about his car in 2021, Charles said: "My old Aston Martin, which I had for 51 years, that I managed to convert, that now runs on waste products. Can you believe this; it runs on surplus English white wine and whey from the cheese processes. I did that quite a long time ago."
