Garbage singer Shirley Manson has flashed peace signs at the camera while updating fans on her condition after she underwent surgery.

The I Think I'm Paranoid singer was forced to pull out of performances this year after suffering injury that required surgery and rehabilitation. Last week, the 58-year-old star shared a photograph of herself looking overjoyed while in a hospital bed, with both of her hands forming peace signs.

With medical equipment attached to her body, the singer posed with her mouth open after seemingly successfully undergoing surgery. She wrote in a simple caption: "She lives" alongside a swirling star emoji.

Her update comes weeks after Garbage had to cancel the American leg of their 2024 tour. The group made it through dates in Europe before they were forced to put the remainder of the tour on ice.

They revealed in August: “It is with great and sincere regret that we announce the cancellation of all of our remaining dates for the rest of the year, due to an injury that Shirley sustained on our recent tour in Europe that will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we apologise wholeheartedly to our amazing fans and supportive promoters. We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025. Sending so much love as always, stay kind.”

Next year, the band are expected to release their eight studio album - which will be their first since their Top 5 selling 2021 record No Gods No Masters. Shirley previously explained that she and her bandmate - which include guitarist Duke Erikson and iconic Nirvana producer Butch Vig - were perfecting the new list of songs.

She told the Italian version of Rolling Stone in June: "There is no exact release date, we are still finishing the final stages of production, it will probably be released by the end of 2025, certainly after the summer. Like all the albums in our repertoire, this one will also represent a great finale, because as I always say to myself: make it the best work of your life because it could be the last thing you leave to the world."

During her chat, she also shared her deepest thoughts about feeling like a "mother" when she takes to the stage to perform. She explained: "I feel like a mother. And maybe even a bit of a priestess.

"When I was young it was different, I was mainly interested in technique and entertainment, today I am aware that holding the stage with my band at my side is the purpose of my life. I haven't had children, I never wanted any, but when I'm on stage the spectators become my children.'
