Strictly Come Dancing fans are convinced one star will exit this week after being "set up" by bosses.

The BBC show returned this week for another episode, with the remaining celebrities and their partners dancing one more time to win themselves a place in the next round of the competition following Nick Knowles exit last week.

Today, as Dr Punam and Gorka Marquez took to the dancefloor, fans were convinced she would be leaving the show tomorrow night. Some viewers were sure bosses had "deliberately" put her second in the running order, referred to as the "death slot".

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "punam in the death slot again? oh they want her gone so bad #Strictly." A second added: "I just said the exact same thing, that’s Punam gone this week because they’ve deliberately put her in the death slot. #Strictly."

"Punam in the death slot… they want her gone #Strictly," a third added, with a fourth writing: "Punam in the death slot twice in five weeks isn’t nice #Strictly." A fifth shared: "Punam death slot…. They are setting her up #Strictly."

This week on Strictly has been marred with controversy after an "inside joke" between Wynne Evans and Katya Jones went horribly wrong. Wynne had put his hand on Katya's waist, which she batted off, and he went to do it again. The video was picked up on social media and went viral, prompting concerns from fans that Katya felt "uncomfortable".

She later insisted she was not at all uncomfortable and described it as an inside joke. She wrote alongside a post: " I need to make something crystal clear. The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I.

"So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It’s actually absurd. So let’s focus on how brilliantly @wynneevans is doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming! Happy Sunday everyone!"

Last week, Nick Knowles became the fourth star to depart the show after being marred by injury.

Speaking about his departure from the show, he admitted his main concern was letting Luba down. He said: "I've really, really been surprised by how much I've loved doing it and by two things that happen. One is how much you care each week, and the other is how much you don’t want to let down your partner. The only reason I could do this is simply because of Luba’s changes, she's been amazing. There are some amazing dancers up there, and I will love watching the rest of the series."

Luba was emotional as she told him: "I’ve never met someone as determined as you, and I remember you saying that if you do your best, you’ll be very happy. I think you did more than your best. Thank you."

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One.
