Oasis support acts for UK 2025 tour ‘revealed’ with huge stars to be confirmed

by · Manchester Evening News

We’re still more than half a year away from the first tour from Oasis in more than 15 years but more details are starting to come through about what fans could expect from the huge-scale reunion shows.

Over the summer, Liam and Noel Gallagher announced they would be reforming for a huge series of shows in July, August and September next year. Kicking off in Cardiff on July 4, the tour will include five massive nights at Manchester's Heaton Park from July 11 to 20.

The tour will also include a big set of shows across North America later in the year - with dates in the United States, Canada and Mexico kicking off towards the end of August. They will also perform in Australia in October and November.

But fans who have been lucky enough to bag tickets for the highly sought-after UK shows have been left wondering who will be joining the Gallagher’s as support. It has been reported this morning that two Britpop legends have been ‘confirmed’ for the pre-show position.

The Independent has claimed, via sources close to the band, that support will come from The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft and 90s band Cast. Earlier this year, Richard led two monumental shows at Wigan’s Robin Park - his first shows in his hometown since 1998.

Having led the band through various incarnations and reunions between their foundation in 1989 and their last appearance together in 2009, the Brit Award-winning band are behind hits including Bitter Sweet Symphony and The Drugs Don't Work, and also has released six solo studio albums - including 2021's Acoustic Hymns Vol 1.

Having broken out in the music scene at a similar time as Oasis, Richard has gained a close friendship with Liam and Noel after The Verve supported them back in 1993. Cast No Shadow, taken from Oasis’ second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, was written about the Wiganer.

Cast, meanwhile, are also no stranger to the Gallaghers. The band, who emerged in 1992, are known for hits including Flying, Free Me and Beat Mama, recently supported Liam on his Definitely Maybe 30 Years tour, which included four shows at Co-op Live in June.

In addition, Noel has spoken before of his admiration for the band - not only describing seeing them live as a ‘religious experience’ but also calling Cast ‘The Who of the 90s’.

Earlier this month, Liam was seemingly taking the support slot seriously by asking fans on X for their thoughts. Last week, he posted: “Richard Ashcroft or Manic street preachers as support”. He then added: Only kidding we never set sail without the 1 and only RICARDO he’s our boy from day DOT come aboard Rkid.”

In a further follow up, potentially confirming Cast’s involvement as well as Richard’s, he wrote: “Just spoke to the CHEF here it is OASIS RICHARD ASHCROFT CAST you are welcome see you nxt year I’m of to to identify as a massive **** LG x.”

However, neither Richard Ashcroft or Cast have yet officially confirmed their involvement in the shows.
