Netflix viewers slam 'disgusting' behaviour of Menendez Brothers prosecutor in new documentary

The original prosecutor in the Menendez brothers' murder trial has left TikTok users stunned with their candid remarks about the online community's analysis of the case.

Netflix has dropped its latest true-crime offering, a documentary delving into the notorious case involving Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of their parents Jose and Kitty Menendez.

It follows the dramatised series that depicted the events of the murders within its 'Monsters' anthology, which reignited public interest in a case that garnered significant media coverage when it first unfolded in 1989.

Over three decades later, the documentary presents phone interviews from prison with the Menendez brothers, giving them a platform to recount their version of the events.

The film also includes conversations with Kitty Menendez's family relatives, journalist Robert Rand and Pamela Bozanich, the prosecutor in the initial trial that concluded with a hung jury, reports the Mirror.

Bozanich expresses her scepticism in the documentary regarding the brothers' allegations of sexual abuse by their father.

Moreover, she addresses the TikTok community directly, critiquing their social media discourse on the case.

In a direct statement to the camera, she says: "The only reason we're doing this special is because of the TikTok movement to free the Menendi.

"If that's how we're gonna try cases now, why don't we just, like, have a poll? You present the faces, everybody gets to vote on TikTok, and then we decide who gets to go home.

"Your beliefs are not facts. They're just beliefs. And by the way, all you TikTok people, I'm armed. We got guns all over the house. So don't mess with me."

The prosecutor's remarks sparked outrage, with one viewer taking to X, formerly Twitter, with one user posting: "She got her 15 minutes of fame on this documentary she didn't have to do that interview and then to tell TikTokers to not come after her and she had guns! Disgusting behaviour!" (sic)

Another viewer expressed similar sentiments, stating: "Was not expecting to watch the documentary about Lyle and Erik Menendez feeling like the worst person in it was the original prosecutor. The irony of her threatening the younger TikTok generation with guns really solidified her hypocrisy and bitterness."

A separate commenter also voiced their disgust, saying: "I get she's a prosecutor but to act like that is truly disgusting! No prosecutor needs to act like that."

The Menendez Brothers documentary is now available to stream on Netflix.
